You pick your coach.  We have a variety of coaches who are all very experienced and experts in their area of coaching.  You can read more about each coach in the coaches section under the overview menu button at the top of this web page.

A 1-1 relationship with your personal coach is developed over time.  You can email them directly to let them know how things are going or to ask pertinent questions.  Instance messaging and other communication are also possible on a periodic basis (skype or phone calls for example).  Currently we don't place restrictions on the amount you can email or call your coach because we believe that at certain times of the year it is important to have more 1-1 communication as compared to other times of the year.  The method and amount of 1-1 communication is a mutual agreement that you can develop with your coach over time.  Any long distance charges are the responsibility of the athlete.

You get a personal training plan and a professional to optimize the plan over time.  Your coach will plan your season with you, write your daily workouts, monitor your training, give you pertinent information before you need it and provide 1-1 communication.

With personal coaching your coach works with you to set up a schedule that fits your lifestyle.  We recognize that things change month by month or even week by week.  So, if you let your coach know what is happening well ahead of time then they can modify your schedule to fit around family commitments, travel, work and anything else that may require a different schedule.

Our training plans are broken into training phases throughout the year and are specifically developed to flow with one another.  You will work with your coach to develop your own season plan based on your key races.  This plan can be modified throughout the year based on your progression or modified around things that come "up" throughout the year.

You will be given your own personal training log.  Although we give 1-1 communication by email, we do find that the best communication between you and your coach occurs by keeping a good training log.  And, scientific studies have supported that notion.  Athletes who keep detailed logs do significantly better than athletes who do not.  It is very important that we see how you are feeling and how well the workouts are going.  Simply completing a workout does not tell us much about your fitness, freshness and fatigue (Three F's).  Proper information about those three F's are how we can optimize your training week by week.  Peak performance occurs by balancing the F's properly throughout the year.

Personal coaching is $189/month plus regional taxes.  Applicable GST/HST taxes apply in Canada.  Currently, there are no state taxes on our services.  Tax may or may not be applicable for other countries.  You may cancel payments after giving 30 days notice.  This is a monthly coaching agreement.  As a result, it is not possible to pro-rate for periods less than a month so please plan your start and end dates appropriately.  For example, you can not pay for 6.5 months but you can pay for 6 or 7 months.

Online Personal Coaching FAQ

1.  What happens after I register for Personal Coaching?

Once we receive your registration and payment you will be contacted by a coach.  They will answer any immediate questions you have and then ask you a number of questions about your goals and history.  Once they have enough information they will begin building your training plan.  You will receive information on how to view your personal plan and how to keep a training log that you and your coach can review.

2.  How often is my training reviewed?

Every coach has their own way exact way of doing things.  However, your training log entries are emailed daily to your coach.  This allows them to monitor your training regularly and respond if something important happens.  We recommend that coaches write programs in two week blocks so that they carefully review the previous two week and make sure you are on track.

3.  How often can I email, instant message (IM), skype or call my coach?

The optimal coach-athlete relationship is different for everyone.  You will notice we do not outline clear restrictions on the amount of emailing or phone calling you can do with your coach.  You can email your coach anytime.  However, if you do email your coach a lot then you have to respect that they will give you quicker answers since the amount of time emailing is adding up and they are getting paid X amount of dollars each month.  We like to keep it flexible and leave it up to you and your coach to sort out the best arrangement.  It could mean a weekly email review or a weekly phone call that is 15 minutes long.  Or, it could be a twenty minute skype call bi-weekly and some emailing back and forth.  And, that arrangement may change throughout the year depending on what you need at the time.  If you would like your coach to spend more time helping you but they don't have any more paid time available then you can pay for additional time by the hour or pay a higher monthly fee.

4.  Whose responsibility are any long distance charges?

Any long distance phone calls to a coach are the responsibility of the athlete.  If you would like to cut down on long distance charges then we highly recommend SKYPE as a very affordable alternative.
